Originally part of BP's chemical division, Minova International Ltd(formerly Fosroc Mining) was created following the acquistion in 2003 by Close Brothers, one of the world's leading private equity investors.
In January 2007 Minova was sold to the Orica Group of companies. Orica is one of the top 50 companies listed on the Australian Stock Exchange with market capitalisation of approximately AU$7 billion. Minova companies apply fifty years of accumulated experience in the fields of strata control and ventilation solutions, and have 12 manufacturing sites in seven countries, with key facilities in the U.S. Germany, Poland, Australia and South Africa.
With over 1,200 employees worldwide, the companies draw on a wealth of international experience and technical knowledge, using carefully selected raw materials to formulate and manufacture products that help contribute towards a safer and more productive mining industry.
The range of products includes resin capsules for rock bolting, high volume output grouts for strata support, ventilation control devices and specialised coatings including the new strata control membrane Tekflex.
The Australian division with offices in Nowra, Mackay, Perth, Newcastle and Emerald, offers the industry a high degree of technical support. With the acquisition of the Tecrete/Ventmine group of companies in 2001, Minova also provides contract ventilation, secondary support and PUR injection services and a wider variety of ventilation systems to the industry.
